Diyalo Pariwar is one of Nepal’s long-established, community-based non-governmental organizations — founded in 1978 by local youth volunteers and grown into a professionally managed, multidisciplinary development organization.

Our Identity
Diyalo Pariwar (DP) is one of Nepal’s long-established, community-based non-governmental organizations, founded on 1 June 1978 by a group of committed young volunteers with a shared vision of serving society and promoting community development.
During its early years, the organization focused on grassroots volunteerism and community welfare — environmental sanitation and waste management, sports and cultural programmes such as Deusi-Bhailo, festival service camps, disaster response and relief, youth reading rooms, and educational support for children. These initiatives established a strong foundation of community trust, volunteerism, and social responsibility.
Founded as a grassroots, volunteer-led youth initiative under the name “Diyalo Children Library,” Diyalo Pariwar has evolved into a professionally managed, multidisciplinary development organization with over four decades of experience — while remaining firmly rooted in its founding philosophy of working with communities, building on local knowledge and mobilizing local resources.
Following formal registration with the Government of Nepal in 1985, Diyalo Pariwar gradually established partnerships with government agencies, national and international development organizations, civil society, and the private sector.
Diyalo Pariwar embraces a people-centred, participatory, rights-based, and partnership-driven approach to development, guided by the philosophy:
“Go to the people, live among them, learn from them, plan with them, and work with them.”

Infrastructure & Physical Facilities
Diyalo Pariwar operates from its own four-storey multipurpose institutional building in Bharatpur, Chitwan — including two training and conference halls, an executive meeting room, office spaces, and a developing mini-resource/knowledge centre.
Looking ahead, the organization intends to further develop its premises as a Community Development, Learning and Resource Centre supporting training, digital learning, child development and civil society engagement.
